Welcome to my kitchen

In my last post I said I was about to start my new job.  Well, I’ve started it and honestly, I think I must have smoke coming out my ears and fumes rising from my scalp…..my brain’s been on overload.  Good gravy I’ve been learning….and trying to learn….. SO MUCH this past week and a half.  Wow, do I ever work in a busy office.  Whew!  Anyway, I’m hanging in there and telling myself that someday, someday, it’ll get easier.
After work, I walk home (I live 3 blocks from work – yipee!) and collapse.  I shove some food in my face and either try to study my notes from the day or give up on that notion completely and watch a movie just so my mind can go somewhere else besides all those new databases I’m trying to learn.

Before I started the job, I had almost two weeks after getting my stuff moved in to get used to my new surroundings.  I drove over to Monterey a couple times but mostly hung out here in Salinas, going to thrift stores and getting some basic house supplies.  I’ve been on the search for a new (well, new to me, anyway – I prefer a used) bookshelf and kitchen table.  Still on the look out for those, but my kitchen is pretty much finished as far as decorating goes, so here are a few photos of it.
This is the first (and apparently only) picture I took of it before putting a thing into it.
1Pretty cool, but kinda drab……

4So, over to the left are a few of the garden art panels I’ve painted.  Pumpkin, peas and garlic.

And to the right is my good ol’ 50 Foot Woman poster.

One neat little feature of the kitchen is this old ice box.  It’s the real deal! Of course, I use the fridge for my food, so I use the ice box for the cleaning supplies (since I don’t have an under-the-sink cupboard)…..

…purty cool, huh?!

So, there’s my tiny kitchen.  Most of the rest of my place is still a bit disheveled.  As I said, I don’t have a kitchen table and no bookshelf, so my books are still in boxes piled up in a corner of the room.  But, I keep looking.  I’ll find them some day.  Anyway, it’s a nice little place and I like it.
