…..and sprained my ankle….

Good gravy, just after I put up a post about going for a walk and stating how rutted the streets are here….I go and sprain my ankle.

I took these pictures within about a half hour of it happening…

….lovely, eh?

Omigod, I don’t know whether to laugh or to cry!

Right now I’m laughing.Ā  This is just too ridiculous for words.Ā  Damn this hurts!!Ā  Got it elevated….got it iced.

You know, I’ve had it in the back of my head since I’ve been here….”Really watch where you’re going ~ you don’t want to sprain your ankle.”Ā  The streets here are so rutted and pocked and potholed and ……just plain missing…..Ā  I was crossing the road at night (headlights everywhere) and watching traffic, ’cause it’s crazy and and you gotta watch it and…… down I went.Ā  It happened sooooo fast.Ā  I don’t even know what I stepped on……or not on…. Damn!Ā  I limped to the ‘sidewalk’ and found the nearest xe om and came home and up two flights of stairs and ….decided to share my lovely experience with you…..oy vey!

Soooooo, just so you don’t have to leave with images of a swollen ankle in your head, here’s a picture of some pretty tribal fabric I bought recently….

….there….that’s better….

  1. oh my lord that looks swollen. you should get it checked out if you can just in case. I did a similar thing a few years ago and my ankle has been weak ever since. nice fabric very lovely.

    1. You should see it now! It’s been entertaining watching it change all sorts of pretty colors and shapes. Well, I hate to admit it, but this is actually the fourth time in my life that I’ve sprained an ankle (good grief…), so I suppose I can relate to the weak ankle problem. But, since this isn’t a new experience for me (unfortunately) I do have a pretty good idea how to take care of it. I just need to find some crutches or at least a cane to keep the pressure off…..and then, just patiently (ha!) give it some time to heal.
Yeah, it’s really pretty fabric, isn’t it? I hope to find some more of it. I think it would be cool to stitch a few pieces of it together and hang it on the wall.
      Thanks, Sair.

  2. What a drag! i think limited mobility is even a worse pain in the butt than the sling and only being able to use my left hand! take care of yourself. Ice?

    1. I know exactly what you mean, Lin. The ‘pain’ of knowing I’m going to have to deal with this for the next few weeks and the limited mobility that implies are more of a pain than the pain of the pain itself……I’m sure that makes sense……somehow.

    1. David!!! It’s so nice to ‘see’ you here! (: Yeah, I’m staying off it as much as possible. I wish I still had my old herb garden from when I lived in Standish – comfrey galore. While herbal medicine is common here, they of course have different names for everything so ~ who knows ~ I may go ask for comfrey and get stinging nettle or something! Soooooo, I’ll just stick with ice! Thanks, brother.
